FAQs - EPDM Flat Roofs

Bauhu home designs with flat roofs use EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) manufactured by Firestone, which is a synthetic rubber roofing membrane commonly used in flat or low-sloped roofing systems. EPDM roofs are durable, flexible, and resistant to a wide range of weather conditions, making them a popular choice for commercial and residential buildings.

There are several different types of EPDM roofing systems, including fully adhered, mechanically attached, and ballasted systems.

In a fully adhered EPDM roofing system used for Bauhu Homes, the EPDM membrane is adhered directly to the roof deck using a special adhesive. This type of system is effective in preventing water infiltration, but it can be more labor-intensive to install and may require the use of heavy equipment.

Bauhu homes with flat roofs have an additional layer of rigid insulation beneath the EPDM providing optimum comfort and elimination sound transmission through the roof surfaces.

A fully adhered EPDM roof is compatible with further (optional) roof treatments and solar panel mounting. For further information and technical data please click on the button below to visit Firestone (now Elevate) roofing:
