Bauhu homes are manufactured and pre-assembled at factory level to ensure an engineered finished product and an accurate component supply. All parts of the building envelope and interior decoration items are assembled together as a ‘kit’ to provide a complete building package ready for assembly on site.

Things that need to be prepared before delivery of a home
Light steel frame homes are designed to be erected on a concrete slab. Foundations, footings and a concrete slab should be prepared before the building arrives. We provide detailed site preparation instructions and concrete slab plans to enable local engineers to design a foundation suitable for local ground conditions.
Sub slab services (water, power, waste and rainwater drainage) should be integrated into the ground works. Site preparation work should be completed by local contractors prior to the arrival of the building.

The unique, patented, interlocking insulated steel frame panel system is incredibly easy to assemble allowing this building to be erected in less than one week.
Our team can install the building or it can be assembled by local contractors with the help of full installation drawings, which are supplied, under the supervision of our experienced technicians.
Assembly of Bauhu buildings is uncomplicated and does not require any specialist equipment or particular skills. The use of local labour under the supervision of our staff is likely to provide the most cost effective method of assembly.
This building fits inside a single 40'HC standard shipping container and can be shipped anywhere in the world by sea or by road. Shipping to most Caribbean sea ports costs in the region of $5500. We would be pleased to provided shipping services but prices are unpredictable and difficult to estimate without a fixed delivery date. However, we do not seek to profit from transport services so please be assured that we will obtain the most cost effective service at the time of delivery on your behalf.
The building is packaged at the factory and loaded into suitable transport for delivery direct to the work site.
The building arrives on site with all of the components required for the complete installation.

Resistant, Durable, Practical
Steel is resistant. Steel represents incomparable resistance not only to high winds and seismic activity, but also moisture, fire, corrosion, storm, termites and similar pests. The steel building structure is protected by a galvanized coating generally accepted within the steel industry to provide a time to first maintenance of a minimum 100 years. With a highly effective galvanization process, light gauge steel profiles resist even the most humid regions.
Steel is durable. Steel displays the strongest resistance to earthquake. The strength of steel is unquestionable, 21 times more flexible than timber and 10 times more than reinforced concrete (concrete + steel reinforcing). Ideal in poor ground areas, lightweight with a low ratio of specific weight to carried load.
Steel is practical. Light gauge steel frame construction is a rapid construction system. The main carrier system is established in residential type constructions within one week regardless of weather conditions. Turnkey construction can be as short as 2 months. A specific “construction season” does not exist. Reinforced concrete is not required, except for base. Buildings are factory pre-produced for rapid delivery meaning short lead times, minimum time on site, rapid and practical assembly without highly skilled labour or specialist equipment.
The Caribbean Cottage range of homes are designed to be built in hurricane prone locations. They are made with a robust steel frame structure which is engineered according to the building code that applies in the build location.
The most common causes of building envelope failure in hurricane and tropical storm winds are water intrusion and impact from windborne debris. This range of buildings have impact resistant glass in all windows and a special hurricane resistant outer cladding from STo which protects not only against impact but also is fire resistant up to two hours. All of Sto’s Hurricane Systems meet the stringent Miami-Dade County, Florida NOA criteria for impact resistance, air and water infiltration, and wind load resistance.
Structural failure is rare in modern buildings providing that they are correctly tied to a ground slab or foundation and that adequate roof to wall top connections are used. An engineered steel frame system uses high tensile bolts to make these connections ensuring the integrity of the building from the foundation right up to the roof structure.

All Bauhu buildings are designed and manufactured to meet or exceed international building code compliance. In locations where specific local construction codes exist (OECS, CUBiC, Bahamas building code, for example) our homes are produced in full compliance with such codes.
Our strict factory based quality control ensures that completed buildings are thoroughly inspected prior to delivery but nevertheless our buildings a fully guaranteed for two years in the case of component failure or manufacturing defects. Detailed limited warranty terms are available on request.
Some of the worlds most desirable locations are also the hardest to get to. Factory manufactured homes are a perfect solution for locations where mainstream construction supplies are not available or very expensive to obtain.
